Rules

A starting deck contains 32 cards 4 each from 1 to 8. At the beginning of a round you draw 10^game-number cards and are given the lead.

Taking Your Turn

To play cards either click a single number or click and drag to select multiple consecutive numbers!

You may lead any legal combination of cards shown below:

  • Set - One or more cards of the same number. There is no limit to the size of a set. e.g. 8 or 2, 2 or 5, 5, 5, 5, 5.
  • Run - A series of consecutive numbers with no more than one card of each number. This is limited to 8 cards. e.g. 1, 2 or 4, 5, 6, 7, 8.
  • Stair - Two or more cards each of two or more consecutive numbers. e.g. 1, 2, 1, 2 or 6, 7, 6, 7, 6, 7, 6, 7 or 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, 4.

When you play a combination you must play as many as possible of the selected cards. This means that you will always use all copies of the card you have the fewest of used in the combination.

The computer will respond by either playing a stronger combination or passing.

If they pass, they draw 2 cards, and the cards in the play area are shuffled and placed under your deck, after which you may lead again with any combination.

If they play a stronger combination, you have the same choice - either play a new stronger combination or pass.

If you pass, then you draw 2^game-number cards and the cards in the play area are shuffled and placed under the computer’s deck. Then, the computer will lead a new combination.

If you play a stronger combination you will continue back and forth until someone chooses or is forced to pass.

If at any time you or the computer have no cards left in their hand then they are the winner of the hand and the cards in the play area and in the hand of the other player are shuffled and placed under the winner’s deck.

Winning and Losing

If you and the computer still have 10 or more cards in both your decks then both draw 10^game-number cards and a new hand is played. If the computer has fewer than 10^game-number cards left when they need to draw a new hand then you have won the round and will progress to the next one with your new, bigger deck after selecting an upgrade. If you have fewer than 10^game-number cards left when you need to draw a new hand then you have lost the run and will be returned to the main menu.

Winning a game will double all cards in your deck, as well as the number of cards that you draw when playing a hand and passing. These changes will also affect your opponent, so be prepared for an increasingly busy board!

Play Strength

Card combination strength is determined by three factors:

  1. Number of Cards - If a combination has more cards than another combination it will always beat that combination.
  2. Range of Numbers - If a combination has more different numbers in it it will beat any combination with the same Number of Cards.
  3. Highest Number - If a combination’s highest number is greater than another combination it will beat any combination with the same Range of Numbers and Number of Cards.
